questions re fire arms from hitech 4th ed
Hi
I am hoping that the group mind can answer a few questions i have niggling at the back of my mind re fire arms from Hitech (an excelent book btw). The first concerns the Colt 1873 SAA or peacemaker. In the description it lists a civilian version with a 4.75" barrel and lists the damage as 2d+1 pi+. My questions are:- Is this damage using the .45 long colt round (i am assuming it is)? If so what would the effect of chambering the above for .44 40 ? Which version of this iconic weapon would the typical western cowboy etc most likely own? there maybe more questions added from time to time and i REALLY appreciate the help guys as i have never even seen a real fire arm much less shot one etc lol so my experience is zero.

Re: questions re fire arms from hitech 4th ed
That's a good question--I was just shooting 0.45 Long Colt a couple weekends ago, both in a modern copy of the Peacemaker and in a lever action carbine (It's a lot of fun! I looove Long Colt).
The catch is that I haven't studied High-Tech4e, so I don't know their rules. 0.44-40 is a good option for the time, I think, so I'll get back to you on that if someone hasn't beaten me.

The .45 LC and the .44-40 versions differ by only 1 point of damage (IIRC 2d+2 goes up to 3d-2), so a 4.75" civilian SAA would do 2d pi+.
