Re: Shotgun Slugs
What would the Rcl be on slug shells. Would it still be 1?

Re: Shotgun Slugs
2 or 3 depending on how hot of a load.

Re: Shotgun Slugs
...Also would the ST requirement be the same? I got the feeling that ST also has to do with the recoil, somehow.
And on that note, how about the weight of a slug shot compared to a shot. Logically I would think them to be the same but is this true? Last edited by Maz; 09-17-2005 at 02:57 PM. |

Re: Shotgun Slugs
Recoil is expressed in Ft/Lbs.
5.56 NATO from a 9 pound rifle generates about 4 ft/Lbs In GURPS terms this is Rcl 1 7.62NATO from a 9 pound rifle generates about 13 ft/lbs. In GURPS terms this is Rcl 2 A one oz slug at 1500fps from a 9 pound shotgun would generate on the order of 20 ft/lbs. |

Re: Shotgun Slugs
Shotgun slugs and shot charges come in more or less the same weight ranges, and all things being equal have the same ft/lbs of recoil and the same inital velocity.
Shotguns having a rcl of 1 is for damage calculations and dosent mirror the actual felt recoil of the weapon. |

Yes and no. Real life recoil is expressed so. GURPS Rcl isn't. It is related, but not directly applicable. >5.56 NATO from a 9 pound rifle generates about 4 ft/Lbs >In GURPS terms this is Rcl 1. Not in Fourth Edition. 5.56x45mm has Rcl 2. >7.62NATO from a 9 pound rifle generates about 13 ft/lbs. >In GURPS terms this is Rcl 2. No. Rcl 3. >A one oz slug at 1500fps from a 9 pound shotgun would generate on the order of 20 ft/lbs. Which would be Rcl 6 from a semiautomatic, but Rcl 7 from a pump-action. A modern semi with pistolgrip would have Rcl 5. Cheers HANS

Re: Shotgun Slugs
I still think in 3e :-)
4e is like converting to Metric. |

Re: Shotgun Slugs
Do you think that magnum shells would add more to the base damage of shot? Or do you think that magnum shells should just increase the range of shot? Also in the 4e characters book are the examples given for 2.75,3 or 3.5 inch 12g shells?
Does anyone know of any online resources giving 4e firearms stats in spreadsheet format? Thanks, B.J. |

Quote:
1. No. Magnum shells have MORE shot, but not typically higher velocity on each pellet. Therefore, no more damage. 2. No, or not much. 3. The examples are probably standard standard 2.75" shells 4. Nothing explicitly for 4e, but you can bet the weapon design system from High Tech will make its way to e23
