Katas & Powers
Katas from the new Munchkin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seem to have the same mechanics as Powers in other Munchkin Games. This begs the question: In a mash-up game, are Katas and Powers distinct or indistinct?
Edit: Having now played Harry Potter Munchkin, I must had Proficiency to this list. So, Powers, Proficiency, and Katas. Distinct or Indistinct? Last edited by Nobunga; 11-13-2018 at 12:51 AM. Reason: New Munchkin! |

Re: Katas & Powers
I too am curious on this. I’d rule they are all different because I just like chaos in my games. But an official, well as official as the secret masters can get, word on this subject would be fnord nice.

Re: Katas & Powers
They're all the same thing with different names.

Re: Katas & Powers
Wow. I fully expected the ruling to go the other way.
This does simplify things for mash-up games. Powers=Katas=Proficiency. Time to update that FAQ! :) |

Re: Katas & Powers
They work exactly the same, so they are equivalent, just like Allies and Hirelings and Sidekicks.

Re: Katas & Powers
Thanks for the reply. It does make it easier, albeit less chaotic. Time to edit my con rules sheet
