Alternate Form Scaled Lost HP/FP
Base HP = 10
Alternate HP = 12 Suffer 2 damage in base form so down to 10 HP Change form HP = 9.6... If round down... alternate = 9 resume normal shape scaled HP => 7.5 ...if still rounding up, HP = 7 = you took damage for changing shape??? If round up... alternate = 10 resume normal shape scaled HP => 8.333 ...if still rounding down, HP = 9 = you healed for changing shape??? Should always just Round 'normal' (Up if over half the fraction)? Should always round up changing in 1 direction and down in the other direction? Should keep the fractions tracked and don't do any rounding? Other? Last edited by LazarusDarkeyes; 08-07-2013 at 11:57 PM. Reason: edit for typo |

Re: Alternate Form Scaled Lost HP/FP
You could just keep 2 injury is 2 injury. Or you could just buy non-reciprocal damage and not have to worry about scaling injury at all.

Re: Alternate Form Scaled Lost HP/FP
Well, I was curious what the RAW answer was as it wasn't clear to me...

Re: Alternate Form Scaled Lost HP/FP
Look at the rules for Rounding, B9, for the RAW.

Re: Alternate Form Scaled Lost HP/FP
Keep multiple running tallies, and reduce the HP of the current form directly in response to injury, while figuring the HP of the alternates in proportion to the total injury in the current form. Form changes simply swap which running tally is marked against directly and which one changes in proportion; do not multiply and round down repeatedly. For the case of 10 HP and 12 HP, here's an example where the character starts in form A and we keep the "active" tally in boldface:
A: 10/10 B: 12/12 Character takes 1 point of injury in form A. A: 9/10 B: 10/12 Character takes 1 more point of injury in form A. A: 8/10 B: 9/12 Character switches to B: A: 8/10 B: 9/12 Character switches to A: A: 8/10 B: 9/12 Character switches to B again: A: 8/10 B: 9/12 Character takes 2 points of injury in form B: A: 5/10 B: 7/12 Character takes 2 more points of injury in form B: A: 4/10 B: 5/12 Character switches back to A: A: 4/10 B: 5/12 Character switches to B once more: A: 4/10 B: 5/12

Related?
Never realized before that if you have an alternate form with lesser Max HP, you heal in that form, and return to the higher HP form, you net got multiplied healing! |

Re: Alternate Form Scaled Lost HP/FP
You realize you're supposed to scale healing based on your character's hitpoints right? B424, High HP and Healing.

Hmm... it would be an interesting house rule to scale healing with HP/10. So a HP 12 fighter would get +20% from healing spells, while a HP 5 child would only get half the normal healing. That might be needlessly complicated, and would certainly hamper low-HP characters. |
