Discworld Game / Campaign experiences
Howdy Folks,
I'm really enjoying the new edition of the Discworld rpg. It's been out a little while now - wondering if anyone's had any recent games, campaign or whatnot experiences. I'm looking to run a few games of it for one the friendly local game stores; they moved a few copies, it seems (and not just to me). I've picked up a copy of The Compleat Guide to Ankh-Morpork (it's got a fantastic map in it), and could probably run urban hijinks easily enough. The book has a number of city establishment ads that, alone, could drive some sessions. Any thoughts or experiences to share? |

Glad to hear it!

If you're running in the post-Raising Steam version of the Disc, I'd also suggest looking at Mrs. Bradshaw's Handbook, which has some ideas about the current state of things on the Sto Plains and thereabouts. Its depiction of Zemphis certainly influenced one of my recent scenarios.

Easy to get players for.
I spend a lot of time combing Discworld books for ideas to 'borrow'. Benefits from some players having read Discworld. Highlights have included a player really getting into roleplaying a pictsie and the temple of Belshamaroth that everyone had forgotten about from the novels. |

I did pick up the last issue of Pyramid (on comedy), and found that worthwhile add. I was a bit worried it might have been duplicative with the guidance in Discworld ... but it was not, happily so. |

Re: Discworld Game / Campaign experiences
I'm a cheater, I listen to audio books at work. I've started the Discworld novels as my g/f is a huge fan (plus they are hood books and just like everything I've heard about Pratchett the man).
Seeing the "new" version on W23 I was like "hmm, should I shell out the $?" "the gf likes it too".... ... now I'm sitting here watching the tracking info like Daddy Warbucks watches the stock ticker. Someone on a local facebook group was "wanting to learn how to play DnD", so I might be having some people learn a better way of RPGing thanks to the book. |

Re: Discworld Game / Campaign experiences
So, I'm going to be running DiscWorld at the upcoming "3D6 Con" in July - a one day miniconvention, at EndGame in Oakland, CA.
I'm going to run a mashup of sorts of "Lost and Found" and "A Little Job" under the event title of "A Quest for Fruit". Epic nonsense is sure to ensue. |

Re: Discworld Game / Campaign experiences
and the write-up ...:
The Quest for Fruit "In the course of history, there have been many quests of epic importance or cultural significance. The Quest for Fire. For Excalibur. For White Castle. This may be one of them, but it's not exceptionally likely. It is, however, 100% guaranteed and warrantied to be a straightforward job, by Ankh-Morpork's most prestigious, by which we mean litigious of law firms, with a few exceptions. Someone who shall remain nameless for the moment likes a particular fruit ("The Fruit"). Likes may be an understatement. Imports of said Fruit have dropped to an inconvenient low. Inconvenient is most certainly an understatement, and said associates of someone - hypothetically speaking, The Unseen University - are beyond inconvenienced to the point of employing an entirely different and less prestigious set of someones to go and acquire and solve for this unappreciated shortage of The Fruit. Easiest. Mission. Evar." The scenario is of course from Phil Masters, and I'm looking forward to seeing it play out. Last edited by BrianEye; 05-15-2017 at 06:26 PM. Reason: Typo correction |

Re: Discworld Game / Campaign experiences
Entirely depends on the scenario. I've had 50 point civilians dealing with unexpected problems that can be solved by wits, 100 point watchmen handling criminal investigations, 125-175 point wizards and adventurer types of various sorts on, well, adventures, and a game I'll be running for the first time next month has 300 point small god PCs.

Someone on G+ looking for comments from folks who have played (or written?) the game. Be polite ambassadors, please - lots of hostility out there.
