Default Potential Munchkin

So I have never played Munchkin. (GASP!) I have seen it but most of my buddies these days wouldn't really appreciate it as they are non-gamers and tend more towards Risk and Scrabble. I saw the boardgame version however and decided that it's time for my munchkin to become a munchkin player. I was just wondering from people that have played both the card game and the board game which of the two is more fun. I just thought that the board game may be more visually appealing to my son. It would be great if some of you that have played both could sound off on your experiences.

Thanks,

I have played and taught both games, and my favorite depends on who I am playing with. If I have a mature, intelligent group of people, Quest is the obvious choice, given the more complicated and lengthy nature of the game. However, for most kids or people with short attention spans, I'd have to recommend the Munchkin card games.

Both games are great, but unless your kid can stand playing a board game for four or more hours, you should try the card games first.

The card game is relatively simple and easy to pick up as you go along. The board game has a very high learning curve, but once you get playing, it's very fun.

To put it in traditional board game terms, Munchkin is to Risk, as Munchkin Quest is to Axis and Allies. The latter is much more in depth, complex rules, complicated, but is a very rewarding experience once you get the ball rolling.

If you're taking a shot in the dark, i'd say Munchkin is the more universally enjoyable game. Also, MQ is only for 4 people, where Munchkin is for practically as many people as you want, if you have enough cards.

Wow, that's kinda funny you would make that comparison. I had an MQ demo last night and while talking to the employees of the game store I made that exact comparison. It fits so well.
