Crawling hand/pets
Hi all! New to the game, love it. I think I've got it mostly figured out, except in a few cases of out-of-the-ordinary occurances. For example:
The Crawling Hand. My foe was going to do battle with the crawling hand thinking it'd be an easy defeat, so I added a mate to it. At this point he decided the battle looked forboding and decided to bribe it (and, I guess it's mate). My question is, 1) can this be done? 2) can you bribe one and fight it's mate? 3) if you bribe both of them, do you pay double, hence 4) do you get two crawling hand pets, effectively giving you two extra hands? I'm actually not sure if a similar circumstance could apply to other pets as well. I'm guessing they are a rule in the expansion, which I don't have. YET. On a side note, I read and appreciate an earlier post dealing with pets, particulary this idea of keeping the standie on the board. http://http://forums.sjgames.com/sho...02&postcount=9 Thanks in advance for your thoughts. I'm sure I'll have further questionsin the future! |

Re: Crawling hand/pets
I don't have the card infront of me, but doesn't it state something along the lines of "Instead of fighting the Crawling Hand you can bribe it . . . "
I would think then that if he decided to fight the Crawling Hand, at that point he has foregone his ability to bribe it. Kind of like coming across a monster that will ignore anyone of level 3 or below, but then you state that you are going to fight it anyway, so someone throws down a buff. You can't then say, "Oh well, I'll just let him ignore me now." It's too late, you've already initiated combat. But without the Crawling Hand card infront of me to confirm that, I'm not 100% sure. |

Re: Crawling hand/pets
Looking at the card it says "If you give the Crawling Hand a Wishing Ring or 500 gold peices instead of fighting it, it will be your little friend..."
It seems the simplest answer should have been the most obvious, but I missed it. Of COURSE you can't change your mind about fighting a monster if it becomes stronger, don't know why I thought it would be legal in this case. Thanks for the help! |

Re: Crawling hand/pets

BTW, I just tried the link I left in my op, it doesn't seem to work, so I musta done somthin' wrong. Never mind that part of the post. ;( Last edited by lerodent; 07-25-2009 at 09:14 AM. |

Re: Crawling hand/pets
In that case the Mate is bribed and he still fights the original monster.
