Default Contrary Monster Movement

Contrary Monsters go one room in the oppsite direction of the rolled color and then follow normal path movement.

What if there is a wall in the opposite direction? Do they continue there normal monster movement or do they stop since they can go the opposite direction?

If a monster cannot legally make its move, it stops. This is true even of Contrary monsters on their first, contrary, movement. If a Contrary monster's initial backward movement would take it through a wall, it does not move (unless it can pass through walls, of course).
