Full Cyborg Body and Sonic Stun Pistols
Hello,
Is someone with a Full Cyborg Body immune from nonlethal weapons such as a Sonic Stun Pistol? Thanks, Paolo PBarone714@gmail.com |

Re: Full Cyborg Body and Sonic Stun Pistols
Well, a "full cyborg" would probably be best represented by a total cyborg body (Ultra-Tech Revised, p. 27). The rules for the total cyborg conversion basically just say to use an appropriate robot body for the statistics, and don't mention anything about changing its traits. Pretty much all applicable robot bodies have the Machine meta-trait, and thus Immunity to Metabolic Hazards. Sonic stunners, on the other hand, specify that they work on a target's nervous system (Ultra-Tech Revised, p. 125), and I would say that Immunity to Metabolic Hazards would make you immune to that. So, by the rules in Ultra-Tech, I'd say that a total cyborg would be unaffected by a sonic stunner.
Now, you could argue that it's more realistic that the meat brain would still be affected by the stunner, if you could hit it. If you wanted to do that, I would say that a total cyborg should modify any robot template they used, putting a limitation on Immunity to Metabolic Hazards, "Does not apply to attacks on the brain", which I'd price at -10%. Then, your stunner, or things like drugs, poisons, etc., that could affect living tissue, could affect the brain, as long as you found a way to deliver them. In the case of the stunner, I'd require a targeted attack to the skull (or another hit location at a similar penalty, if the brain was being kept elsewhere). A smart cyborg will probably also armor the brain case pretty heavily, so even if you hit, you do still need to account for the DR. |
