Folks sure get worked up about misconstrued meanings. I don't mind references existing that I don't catch, and it is somewhat interesting to learn/find new ones. I for one liked the title and the article. And, I LIKE THE SANDBOX.

Alternate sub-title, "The Sandbox Is" : a statement vague enough to just confuse about meaning, Sphinx-like in its depth and obscure enough to defy offense. Perhaps all communications should be so.

I just finished reading the pyramid and it is good... I'm looking forward to introducing some friends and relations to the solo adventure as a gateway to RPGs in general and GURPS specifically.

Is this issue one of the three free strecht goals ("DF themed Pyramid") of DF in Kickstarter?

If so. How can I claim it? It doesnt appear in my W23 accout. It does appear #98 but not this one.

The three issues weren't free to backers; the stretch goal was that there would BE three DF-specific issues.

You don't internet much do you PK?

No matter how something is said there are always peeps that will take it the wrongest way possible. Not on purpose, but they'll misread it and then take it personally.

Just gotta shrug and move along.

My knee-jerk reaction isn't as severe as Rasputin's, but I will use my spending to express my displeasure nonetheless.
To be fair, the thrust of that section is "some people think sandbox campaigns shift the creative effort onto the players, but the actual result is that they exponentially increase the work the GM needs to do". It then suggests a handful of things that can help a group manage that.

That's only a small part of the article, too.

Despite the fact that it came from a very obscure game, that particular buzz-phrase achieved impressively wide circulation. Probably because it played to the ever-popular "oriental people speekee the very bad Ingrish, ha ha" prejudice.

Kudos to Steven Marsh and everyone who helped with the solo adventure. It's really nicely done and well written.

Super nerdy question about the character form: Does the edged rapier in DFRPG differ from that in Martial Arts (sw cut, thr +1 imp)?

Redhair only has ST 11, but Striking ST 2, so strikes with ST 13 – thr 1d and sw 2d-1, as the character sheet shows.

With the rapier, that's a base thr 1d+1, and sw 2d-1.

Now add in the effects of Weapon Master: +2 per die, so that's +2 for thr and +4 for sw. Result: thr 1d+3 and sw 2d+3.

The character form differs by listing thr 1d+2, not 1d+3. Did I make a mistake, or does the weapon's thr differ in DFRPG, or is something else afoot?
