Default Necromancer Ability

Hello,

I was not able to find an answer to this question on the forums so if it's been answered please forgive the double post.

Some friends and I were playing munchkin and a player was a necromancer. During a combat phase 3 cards were discarded to power the necromancers ability to bring an undead monster into the combat against another player. The monster that was reanimated was one of the 3 cards that were discarded. The player that initiated the combat stated this was not how the ability worked and the top monster outside of the 3 cards that were discarded would be the one that was reanimated.

Question, if a player uses the necromancer ability and discards 3 cards and one of those cards is a monster, is that monster eligible to be reanimated as the undead monster.

This leads to the follow up question. The players whose turn it is, is he able to decide what order the cards the necromancer discards go into the discard pile.

the necromancer was wrong. The monster would have to be the last one in the discard AFTER the cards he discarded.

So I can basically discard the monster I want to re-animate?,
If I want to re-animate the current top monster I MUST discard 3 non-monster cards?,

No. The cards you discard to power the ability are added to the pile AFTER you pull the monster to reanimate.

You can discard monsters, you just can't reanimate any of those monsters.

The player whose turn it is decides the order that cards from a combat are discarded (if she cares). When discarding to power an ability, the person using that ability decides the other of the discarded cards.
