Sure, but I wonder what the official channel for this stuff is supposed to be now. Surely they didn't just launch a whole new game and then otherwise went dark?

Well then a generic gaming forum like RPG.net might be better?
As far as I'm aware, just facebook. But most of the forum refugees went to EnWorld instead. It will have been two years closed on Oct 29.

Well then any of those places are probably better for D&D...

Hey, "The Steve Jackson Games 'Roleplaying in General' forum is the best place to go online to get answers to your D&D questions" isn't that bad a reputation to have.

The OP is unlikely to get answers from the people who wrote the 5e versions of these items here though, as opposed to say from the guy who wrote GURPS Fantasy.

That's EXACTLY what they did.

They discontinued the forums when they started to require staff time, and weren't getting new views...

The AL discussion subforums moved to EnWorld.

WotC has NO official forums at all.

There are an awful lot of D&D 5e questions on the Roleplaying Stack Exchange, many of them ones that would be appropriate for a game-specific forum.

There's probably more official traffic on Twitter than anywhere else besides their site blogs. Frankly, Enworld was always a more useful and friendly site than the Wotc boards anyway, IMO.
