Default Why is Moop's Monster Mashup called that?

Not really the right thread for this, but I couldn't find a better one.

This question has probably been asked already (perhaps even by me) and answered, but... why was this product released as Moop's Monster Mashup (A Munchkin game) instead of the more conventionally formatted MUNCHKIN Monster Mashup or some other MUNCHKIN <subtitle>?

It seems to set the game apart from other Munchkin sets, and having bought it, I can see no reason do to that.

This deserves better attention than hiding in an unrelated thread. I have a draft of something about exactly this; I'll try to make time to finish and post the background behind Moop's Monster Mashup.

I agree, so I split it out.

From MY perspective, there's such a thing as a title that is too long and too alliterative, and Munchkin Moop's Monster Mashup crosses the line. Phil probably has a better-thought-out answer.

Well, a chimera themed set could have exited without Moop, thus eliminating one of the M's.

I'll look forward to seeing Phil's take on this.

Nah, Moop was part of the recipe from the beginning. I think it's safe to say he'll be a recurring character -- in fact, there's a Moop story in an upcoming issue of the comic book.

Is this based on a comic or something?

Nope, it's Steve's original creation.
