Default Have you ever used Car Wars in other settings?

I'm wondering if anyone has used the Car Wars rules for vehicular combat in other settings, whether alternate Autoduel Earths, autoduel superheroes, gangsters and G-men during Prohibition, backwoods bootleggers running 'shine, whatever.

I caught a mention of Crimson Skies recently and had an idea that Aeroduel might fit its setting better than it does, and that got me to thinking.

I did one using a deadlands setting. I used the magic in car wars for my hucksters. I had to shoe horn some of the critters and monsters from other games. Fun stuff. So, instead of horses I used cars and such.

(Runs upstairs to get GURPS Deadlands book; flips through to reacquaint)

So, sort of a post-apocalyptic Weird West? I can see where there could be *loads* of cool stuff in that kind of setting -- undead truckers, Black Rider biker gang... Sounds really, really neat.

I used CW with Traveller for a while... 1 DP = 2 Traveller damage dice.

I don't know much about the Deadlands universe.. isn't that old west with magic?

Aramis, did you have vehicular combat in the Traveller universe, or was it Traveller characters for roleplaying in the autoduel 'verse?

Deadlands is best described as D&D meets the old west.

Deadlands: Hell on Earth is the setting that involves a post-apocalyptic Wild West America.

One expansion for Deadlands: Hell on Earth, Road Warriors, has a set of fast-playing vehicular combat rules that has content that would be useful in Chassis & Crossbow Car Wars scenarios.

Mr. Owen, I say this with all sincerity and not a small amount of awe: is there anything that is even tangentially related to Car Wars that you aren't familiar with? It's genuinely staggering.

Thanks for the compliment. You might find one page on my Web site especially useful. I need to update a few of its links, a task I hope to accomplish this week.

Ah, excellent. Sad how many of those links are gone -- and not even the known-dead games, either.
