I guess that's possible. I just didn't envision it as a simple task in a body that was both not made for it and new to the mind in it. Still, I don't need to roll to fly, so it could be fine.

Scratching out simple symbols I'm not going to fuss about -- you want to write legible words, that may be something else. But, as noted, there isn't really a suitable writing surface available at the moment.

And just for the record -- Observation/Perception are IQ based, and IQ doesn't alter when morphed, so I would be using Astrid's scores (allowing for any appropriate modifiers from her new form's acute senses, night vision, etc.).

Astrid flies up and makes a quick circle to get her bearings and make any last-minute observations (Roll 13 for seeing things, still not sure vs what, though) before landing and scratching incomprehensibly in the dirt.

(I feel like drawing an arrow in the dirt to convey a general direction is conceptually essentially Gesture, but it could also be some sort of artistic skill or something? Whether vs Gesture 10 or Artist IQ-6=4, even if it is artist and grants a bonus due to simplicity the 13 rolled is still insufficient.)

I'm assuming that Keirnan, being 100 yards away from the tree is not aware of the beastial and continues on his slow plodding path through the swamp? Is he behind the group or slightly off to one side still.

Yes, I would imagine at this point it's more of a direct approach in an attempt to keep up.
