I'd buy a subscribtion in a heartbeat!

Items of interest:

- Dungeon Fantasy

- all "toys": spaceships, guns, vehicles of all kind, etc.

- all monster stuff: bestiary, creatures of the night, etc.

...and I still would *love* to see a sf equivalent to DF: A sf/action/horror/military/bughunt game in the style of Pitch Black, Gears of War, Halo, Aliens, Predator, Lost Planet, Resistance, Doom, etc. - call it Dungeon Future or Bug Space or Space Hunt or whatever...

I don't see this as it happens with paperback books series all the time.

The Robotech novelizations and Aspen's Myth series are two examples I can think of right off the top of my head. The "bundles" are cheaper than the individual books were unless you bought them a long time ago.

This situation is even truer of comic books--generally TPB are cheaper then then the total price of the individual issues (hardcover editions are the noted exception)

I have a number of TV show "subscriptions" on Amazon. When a new episode comes out, they bill my CC, send me an email, add it to my video library, and push a copy out to my TiVo automatically.

You know, a build-your-own subscription feature in e23 would rock. Or perhaps an auto-buy checkbox next to various product lines, so that every new DF (for example) item is added to my pile o' PDFs and billed to my credit card and the system sends me e-mail to tell me to download the thing. That'd be about the fastestest way for SJG to separate me from my money, and I'd get what I want, so it'd be a win-win.

This is about the time in any thread where I come in and dash everyone's hopes and dreams. Sorry folks.

Subscriptions like the ones proposed here aren't something you're likely to see on e23. The reason being, of course, the ever-nebulous Technical Issues. Our backend simply is not up to the task.

I figured you'd slink (that's what foxes do, right?) by to tell us it can't be done. But if we don't dream and ask, we won't get what we want when (and if) things change somewhere down the road, long down the road as it may be.

Oh, absolutely! It's good to know what users want out of the service. I just didn't want anyone to get their hopes up, since I know for a fact this is beyond our feeble powers right now. (I swear, I should just stick Crusher of Dreams in my forum user title.)

Small company. People wear lots of hats.

Now for something slightly different...

Imagine this: a GURPS Dungeon Fantasy box set - for $50!

  • Would you buy it?
  • What should be in there?
  • Would you pay for a $60 or even $75 box set *if* it included more stuff? What stuff?
