"True" Alchemy
Hello All
In my Urban fantasy game I have Alchemy as a branch of magic, yet no magery needed, going back to the middle ages, taking inspiration from movies and books. Seen as a scholarly art and science, with deep ties to mysticism, occult, as well as materials. Not just transforming materials, but true potions and elixirs; such as breathing fire, improving stats, healing, etc. In Fantasy Tech 1 it sort of breaks down a new kind of Alchemy, its good as a base, but its lacking in my option. Its lacking in descriptions, recipes, components, and procedures, as well as having an overall simplicity that basically says "pay this, get this". I am looking for more color and flavor to my Alchemy. Has anyone expanded on either these rules, or perhaps knows of other write ups? Or perhaps you have built your own you could share? Any help or direction would be great. thank you Last edited by Lameth; 12-01-2020 at 01:56 PM. |

Re: "True" Alchemy
What did you think of the rules in Magic, Ch 28, and Thaumatology's "Material Magic" section (p95, with the alchemy rules per se starting on p100)?
If you're just looking for the color details ("descriptions, recipes, components, and procedures"), how about real-world sources? |

FYI. Those articles are about two years old and I haven't posted any GURPS related content for about 18 months or so. But I hope to change that.
