Yes. Progress (for officers) is pretty normal until you get your first stripe, and then it grinds, sometimes to a halt. (For ORs it can halt at Private (proficient) or Leading Astronaut. If you're good at your job but not foreman material you get pay raises but not promotions. Bucky is going to be leading some NPC marines specialists who get paid more than he does.)

It's not incest because she happened not to inherit any of those genes.

Nah, but the genetic necromancy is still a bit creepy. At any rate Nyoman Eichberger is twelve and currently attending Regulus.

Brent McAdams is a simple man, as long as he can afford the mass market interactive true-crime detective stories he likes he doesn't really care how much he gets paid.

It would be possible to reconstruct his entire genome if anyone were that way inclined.

In this case, they just needed a Y chromosome. I suppose they could have gotten one from either paternal grandfather just as easily.

Hey, if we really want to hook-and-grommet, Alistair could have donated the chromosome!

EDIT:
Also I am terribly amused that I accidentally made a character who technically owns the Empire and doesn't know it.

Sure, that could be how she met Caroline. And the death of her parents could be one of the horrors that turned him from a dashing young man to a reserved fanatic.

Or it could be why she's on this ship.

Indeed.

It does that. Makes it a bit personal when she goes missing planetside.

So, hows Bucky going to handle a four-striper breathing over his shoulder?
