Re: [DF] What a load!
Is this the same thing as Instant Armor? Or is that still a separate project?

Re: [DF] What a load!
DF13 (like other DF books) uses equipment exclusively from Basic Set and the rest of the DF series. If you're using Low Tech for the armor, you'll need to redo most of the totals (though there are some lenses which don't include armor and can be used as-is) and refigure the need for extra starting cash and/or Signature Gear, but DF13 might at least be good for roughing out equipment lists.

Re: [DF] What a load!
First thoughts: Very handy, especially for non-gear monkey players and bad guys.
Oddities: Number of DX-reliant templates with layered armor in places giving them an effective -1 to a bunch of skills. What looks like artwork specifically commissioned for DF13 has the wrong armor for the template it's supposed to be showcasing on p. 16. |

Re: [DF] What a load!
Kromm thanks for the feedback, I hope everyone involved doesn't take my comment to mean I think SJG was trying to scam me for pages. I just don't think I'll end up using them unless those templates are made for GCA. I'd much rather pay $10 for 53 pages than 30 pages.
I find any complaints I have about price are nullified with the "Partial Armor" sidebar. This sidebar itself was easily worth $5. |

Nevertheless, "knight with a flamethrower" is almost as cool as "steam cat."

Re: [DF] What a load!
After being basically forced to pay $24+ for 1 book from That Other Game up to 3 times a month for inferior martial, mediocre art, and power creeping just to keep up with the rules I am *happy* to buy good material, nice art, and balanced rules I can use for $10. That's why I buy every single release SJ makes (well that and being a Completest @_@) for 4th edition whether I can use it right then or not. I think I'm missing 6 books out of all the 4th edition PDF material and 4 out of the hard copy's. I'll be getting those later this year.
Also this is a helluva crunchy book, very nice indeedily-do. I wish we had access to this for Matt's DF forthcoming adventure. :) Ghostdancer

There will also be a new [Equipment] section. And an <Equipment> section under [Modifiers]. I think that DF8 offered some equipment notes that may need to be implemented before tackling this project. I'm not sure if you would want to do separate categories for each template (Equipment Templates - Barbarian, etc) or by size (this is the icky bit - there are a whole bunch of with tags). What? It was a slow night at work... |

Good luck on GCA. I'd love to just click an option to equip a character.

Re: [DF] What a load!
Good to know.
Is it possible to do a conditional statement that looks up your SM and recalculates to the appropriate size? |
