Just Roll 3d6 - GURPS Content Posts
Just Roll 3d6 is a new blog focused on showing how simple GURPS can be. The target audience is new roleplayers, as well as players or gamemasters that are new to GURPS.
The first two posts are up. Why Play GURPS? identifies several reasons for gamers to choose GURPS as their system. Simplifying Gameplay with Task Difficulty Modifiers encourages GMs to use task difficulty modifiers instead of crunching a list of specific bonuses and penalties in order to make gameplay easier and less intimidating. I look forward to joining the community of GURPS bloggers! |

Good post. I would also mention Kromm's optional advice from Pyramid 3/70 concerning working out penalties to rolls using adjectives.

Hey! You stole my idea!
No ... I'm kidding. Even if I wrote something like that in several threads (a long time ago), it is not my idea. It is precisely GURPS idea. And you wrote it very well! Far much well than what I did. Your English is clear, elegant, easy to read (even for a French), and the layout is just beautiful. Your blog is now in my bookmarks. Impatiently waiting from other very good articles like that. |

Re: Just Roll 3d6 - GURPS Content Posts
That is a good article.
I tend to get bogged down in details and added complexity. Maybe a more quick-and-dirty approach can speed things up? Maybe not with old veterans but definitively for newer players.

Re: Just Roll 3d6 - GURPS Content Posts
The newest post on Just Roll 3d6 is up: Narrating Better Failures. New GMs can feel stuck when their players fail rolls; this post shares some tips for keeping the adventure going, and even using failure to make things more interesting!
While this post is aimed at new GMs, hopefully there's some ideas that are valuable for experienced GMs as well. I'm glad to hear the first couple of posts have been well received. Keep the suggestions coming, and feel free to share your ideas in the comments of the site as well! |
