Hand axes. Never throw knives when you can throw axes. :-)

You don't need flying opponents. Ship to ship combat, a big enough wall, or simply a tree to climb and the melee guy soudainly look less amazing...But yes, against ground based opponents on a featureless plane, starting at melee range, the cuisinart rule supreme.

There is no canon in GURPS, beyond 3d6 and roll low. Everything is optional. DF doesn't use some optional rules from an optional supplement, and it does use some optional rules from an optional supplement, but all GURPS games are like that.

Well, the specific intention of DF is to be able to curate the large GURPS 4E library to specifically run one genre, right? It makes assumptions regarding presentation for that specific genre. It's not like there's a Living GURPS campaign out there that you can't play if you use a DF character.

My Barbarian Ogress carries a "Bag of Rock" just for these contingencies. Cornucopia quiver of a shaped throwing stone.

A 5 pound stone the size of most other people's heads... but it is just a stone.

You can carry like what, eight daggers or shuriken to each hatchet? So it's an ammo vs power situation.

What's the base $ of the stone to use for such stones to value Cornucopia from? Because IMC there are a bunch of mass-produced throwing rocks that cost $1 apiece and weigh 1 lb each.

I used $1 and weight at 5 lbs, but that's an SM+2 upsized rock.... and there were no prices for throwing stones (I say "shaped stone", but it has no bonuses).

I just found it easier to add a line for thr cr, ACC 1, RNG x0.5/x1, etc. to the weapon table than to try to calculate the throwing distances and damage based on character ST as found in the relevant page of the Basic Set.

A shaped rock for a heavy sling weighs 1lb and retails for 10 cents
