Default More Perilous Journeys: Coming Soon to Kickstarter

https://gamingballistic.com/2020/05/...-fantasy-trip/

More Perilous Journeys will be making three GM'd adventures and two programmed "solo" quests.

The More Perilous Journeys project is about execution rather than creation. The writing team is very experienced; the drafts are in hand, in editing and layout. The funds are for art, production, and distribution...making them beautiful pieces of work.

While the adventures contain "print your own" counters, die-cut counters and NPC/Monster cards will be produced in a separate campaign.

I hope to launch in just under two weeks...and the project has just been approved by Kickstarter, so things are looking solid.

You can check out the pre-launch page below, with the caveat that I've got 10-12 days before launch and may tweak out a few things.

That's great news.

In my current campaign we've already completed The Citadel of Ice, and they've since had a few sidebar adventures of my own creation that has seen them pursue the Crown of Destiny and I'm going to use the Curse of the Pirate King as the sequel.

The modules are clear and well written and were easy to drop into my milieu. It's been a great time saver for me. When I was a teen with unlimited time I could cobble up what I liked.

I'm definitely going to be backing!

Seven days until launch!

I’ve made good progress getting the Kickstarter campaign ready for launch. Enough so that I feel comfortable in showing a preview.

If you have questions or comments, I welcome anything constructive!

If you want to be alerted when the project launches, you can sign up to be notified the moment it goes live here.

Three of the five books are in my hands; one is being revised. The fifth is close to being finished and I anticipate completion before the project launches.

If I'm understanding this correctly the kickstarter with the extras like counters and such will be after this one. In that kickstarter will you be reprinting the original counters for the first Journeys?

That's my plan.

(Note: I sold every single one of my Decks-of-Destiny style card decks. I don't even have one for myself from the original print run. That wasn't planned - I wanted one - but that's how it went!)

So yah, I hope to run a "counters and cards" campaign later.

After a bunch of feedback and some serious consideration, I've knocked the pledge levels down in cost by 20% across the board.

Please understand, though: My first TFT Kickstarter, "Four Perilous Journeys" was significantly under-priced. I produced 16-page adventures, well illustrated, for $4 PDF and $8 print, and that really should have been $6 and $12, respectively based on prices not set using a reference data set (my personal library) that was basically published 20 years ago.

That's an oops, and that was on me . . . but I obviously can't keep doing that and stay in business.

So, based on a bit of research, some prodding from Phil, and a few other ideas, I'll be revamping the pledge levels for the Kickstarter.

I'll think on it tonight and implement it tomorrow, but there will be a LOT more pledge levels with more choices. More "pick your PDFs/pick your Print books" levels. Like an intro "Pick one of the five PDFs," and using pledge questions to allow the backer to choose.

It's more complex, which I was trying to avoid, but the TFT crowd is pretty seasoned; you know what you want, and what you don't.

You are my favorite person. Just saying.

(I will also add: the campaign is absolutely able to succeed without folks "catching up" on the prior five books. BUT . . . to the extent that folks see the older books and say 'yeah, I want those, and more like them!' and jump on board for all 10 of the TFT books on offer? That will turn success into spectacle. I'm hoping that some of the 3,400 folks that backed TFT originally, less the 610 who jumped on Five Perilous Journeys, decide to join that happy club.)
