Default Easter egg (?) in cover graphics of Scenario Book 1

Back in 2001 I think I bought Ogre Scenario Book 1 but it probably got lost in my last move. Thanks to the recent sale pricing at Warehouse 23 I got a digital copy. Zooming in on the image of the PDF cover page it seems that theres some easter egg type things going on in the background image.

FNORD I could understand easily but ROR fshlp23 ARF R / <scenario> a bit less.

Has anyone else noticed these before?

I had noticed them, but never put a lot of thought into deciphering it.

It really only "means something" if you start building Devil's Tower in your living room ...

As I sat here smiling at the Devil's Tower from mashed potatoes reference, I soberly realized that my kids would have no idea as to what that reference is in regards to. I must fix that, if for no other reason than denial of my age!

You mean you don't have one? i thought everyone had a Devil's Tower.

Mine's not in the living room, though.

Its in the basement. On the Lionel train's table.

No mashed potatoes-too messy.

It DOES mean something.... I'm sure of it....if only I could...

I gotta go...where's that ground foam?

That's "ERROR fship23 ARF R / <scenario>.mn" and you are not cleared for that, Citizen.

Admittedly, having never seen Close Encounters, my first reaction to the phrase 'Devils Tower & Potatoes' is recalling Homer Simpson fashioning a circus tent out of a plate of spuds in homage to the movie...

This is an explanation I can understand.
