Default Transferral potion and stone golem

I played a game where i fought a stone golem since i was a halfling it was boosted a lot, so I would have to try to run away.

I used a transferral potion to make my friend fight it, on the stone golem card it says that you can fight it or just wave and walk by. But it also says that you have to fight if you are a halfling.

He is not a halfling, but does he have to fight it or can he just wave and walk by?

To answer your question first: The other player could have ignored Stoned Golem as long as he was not a Halfling. He could also choose to fight it, find it boosted even more, then decide not to fight it. The choice to avoid the combat is never taken away from a non-Halfling.

However: If you wanted to, you could have discarded your Halfling race and walked away from Stoned Golem yourself, rather than having to Run Away. If you had lots of cool Hafling-only Items that you were using, I could understand why you wouldn't want to do that.
