Default Three cheers for Nikola Vrtis!

And while I can't speak for Steven, I'm pretty sure that being a project manager is a lot easier when you have a production artist who can handle requests to "get this done yesterday."
Nikola Vrtis is the woman behind the throne, to whom Sean and Steven come to make things look good and consistent. She is sort of the Scotty of the SJG crew, in that she gets too little time to do too much. Yet because of her role, she gets few accolades. So this thread is for that.

P.S. The name Vrtis sounds really intriguing. Where does it come from? D.S.

I'll happily jump in on this!
Besides layout and art selection shes also edited at least a few projects. The whole team is great but yeah I think Kromm gets most of the acknowledgement and its a team effort to get us the great material we crave.

Nikki is very good at what she does, and she's a pleasure to work with; among other things, she's timely and she has seemingly endless patience with fussy details.

^This. Both her and Steven are the long-suffering saints of editors and fussy details for sure.

Nikki helped me reorganize a lot of my early work structurally and gave me pointers on how I might do better in the future. She's also the last line of checks sometimes and catches the smallest of things. She just makes everyone's work better for having seen and worked with it. I really can't say enough nice things about her.

I've had Nikki as editor on two of my projects, Disasters: Meltdown & Fallout and Read the Sky in last year's PDF challenge. Both times she has quite certainly made the end result substantially better than it would have been without her work. Thank you!

She also has significant RPG credits at West End Games, from the DC Universe RPG (1999) to the early-2000s D6 System material.

I have not yet had the opportunity to work with Ms. Vrtis directly, though I suspect I will in the somewhat-near-future as my as-of-yet-unspecified GURPS Infinite Worlds project approaches playtest, revision, and eventual publication. I am very much looking forward to learning from her!

Note: The project in question is currently listed publicly in the playtest queue under Upcoming Plans in this month's GURPS News ("the GURPS Infinite Worlds series (by James Amaral and Joshua Lopez)"), so I don't think I am breaking any NDA in mentioning it here in this context.
