Sapient AIs are trained. Limited AIs are just programmed.

...for primates. AI's aren't primates. They are programs that are constructed to mimic the desired parts of primate behavior. If you want to include adverse responses to rewards and punishments in the desired behavior, you can try, but until there, there's nothing to reward or punish any more than you punish or reward your central air conditioning unit when you adjust the thermostat. "To reward you for many days of faithful service, I have loosened your work parameters from 68-78 to 65-80."

LAIs (and all other programs executing on conventional electronic hardware, which includes TS computers) *have* to undergo deletion, suspension, and modification to function in the first place, both as a whole and in parts.
