Charles Stross Eschaton series tech level
The two books are Singularity Sky and Iron Sunrise. They are hard ish SF with a whole lot of playability as a game world (in my humble opinion)
If you have read them. Do you feel like guessing the TL for the Humans? (We can leave the Eschaton out of it for now) |

In some ways at least TL 11. They have harnessed black holes for space drives and apparently dry nano manufacturing.

Hugely variable. There's TL11 stuff around, some of it with big ^ attached, and TL6 peasantry in the New Republic. Different societies have different mixes.

Yes, exactly. The whole point of the setting is that there's no overall tech level and a mashup of capabilities is the order of the day.

Some places, like the Republic, don't use or even have access to all that and some might have more advanced bits (is the Festival beyond TL11? They seem to be ahead of even the non-backward neighbors in Singularity Sky.) Presumably the Eschaton's own toys are TL A Wizard Did It.

I think the average Earth resident is on the 10-11 border. (Large powerful groups higher) Other worlds have parts higher and parts lower. It could make for a fun my magic VS your magic gaming world. |

Re: Charles Stross Eschaton series tech level
I think the interesting thing about the Republic in Singularity Sky was that they had themselves eschewed higher tech for part of their population as part of a political ideology.
