Icons effect on searchs

How do race and class icons affect searches? The rules say they do but how. Do they give you an extra die like in combat or just a +1 like a search icon (magnifing glass icon)? Foe example, I'm a wizard in a room with a green wizard hat icon, do I roll 2D6 or 1D6+1 when searching that room?

You get an extra die for each green/good effect, and lose a die for each red/bad effect.

On page 9 of the rules, there's a callout box entitled "Rooms and Icons," which says:

● Green icons indicate rooms that are good for your Race or Class. Each green icon that matches your character lets you roll an extra die.

● Red icons indicate rooms that are bad for your Race or Class. Each red icon that matches your character takes away one die.

The above, of course, only applies to combat and searching a room. It is possible to have no dice to roll because of Red icons, and I would guess that it's possible to be able to roll as many as 7 dice, if there was a room that was good for two Classes, two Races and a gender. The use of "each" in those rules makes it clear that these stack and combine, so one green plus one red would mean you would only roll the default one die for that particular roll.
