Shapeshifting / Projection / Out of body travel
In Gurps Fantasy, it says on page 60:
"A shaman capable of out-of-body travel (see Insubstantiality, p. 128) may be able to assume an animal form in his astral body. Buy Shapeshifting with Only When Insubstantial (p. 131)" After reading this (and the texts referred to) it is my understanding that the shaman starts with a human, substantial form (step 1); then he becomes insubstantial while remaining human (step 2); and finally he takes on an animal insubstantial form (step 3). Now I'd like to take out the middle step. In other words, his human form should always be substantial. Can anyone tell me to reach this effect? As extra info/consideration, I'd also like to add the Projection limitation (GURPS Powers 44) to the package. The final result I'm aiming for is that the shaman's human, substantial form stays behind unconsciously while his animal, insubstantial form travels around. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Shapeshifting / Projection / Out of body travel
I would go:
Alternate Form ("Spirit Animal") (Projected Form, -50%), and have the Spirit Animal Form be insubstantial as part of the Spirit meta-trait. Projected Form is on Powers, page 75. |

Re: Shapeshifting / Projection / Out of body travel
There isn't a modifier along the lines of something like, "Only and always when insubstantial" is there? It shouldn't be hard to make in any case. That's my guess at it. The question in my mind is if you should be modifying both shapeshifting and projection, or only shapshifting.

This does the job perfectly. The rest is academic.
