Licensed GURPS books from before 4th Ed?
Hi, I have a question about the various 1E, 2E, and 3E GURPS books that were licensed properties (such as Uplift, Hyborian Age, Humanx, etc.).
I know that due to the original licenses expiring, SJG can't offer them for POD or any other print option. Does that same limit also prevent any of them from being offered for sale as ebooks on w23? I see Bunnies and Burrows is on w23: is that an indication that SJG is allowed to eventually make all of these types of GURPS books available from w23?

Re: Licensed GURPS books from before 4th Ed?
I do not have inside information, but it looks like there is no generic answer to the question. Every licensed product is essentially unique, with its own conditions negotiated with the licensor. They got permission to release B&B as PDF, at least for a while, and the same with Conan. However, the conditions for those are unique to those specific properties and cannot be generalized to licensed books in general. The remainder might come back some day, or might not. Licensing being what it is, I imagine the return of any given licensed product is not impossible, but nevertheless highly unlikely.

Hm.
I'm wondering especially about GURPS Uplift. I have the book, but I wonder what I'd be able to do to replace it, if anything happened to it.

I remember Conan going away then coming back as apparently terms were renegotiated, similar things have happened with a few other licences.

The Bunnies & Burrows property is owned by Steve Jackson Games. It is not a licensed property.

Now I'm confused. Does that mean that the 3rd Edition that Frog God is producing is actually licensed from you? Or is there a co-ownership thing with the people they're working with? Because I didn't see SJGames mentioned anywhere on the Kickstarter page.

There’s nothing to be confused about. The property is owned by Steve Jackson Games and we’re happy to see the team at Frog God Games producing this new edition.

Gurps Burrows and Bunnies was one of the first Gurps books I saw and blew me away with how versatile the system was. I knew the original game came out in the 70's but I had no idea SJGames owned it And are letting the 3rd edition happen. Good on you guys! Thanks for that from this member of the community.
