Re: Fire and lowtech questions.
Compatible things anyhow. What I was getting at is I think 'died of smoke inhalation' can include 'died because the smoke they were inhaling was a couple hundred degrees centigrade', as well as other less thermal respiratory agencies.

Re: Fire and lowtech questions.
Welding generally takes place at 1370 c
The actual arc of a welder is between 3000-20,000c Wood flame by comparison is a meager 585c Wearing leather welding gloves DOES let you directly touch the molten steel and be in direct proximity of the welding arc, or have it drip on you with nothing more than some scorching on the outside of the leather. I have actually ended up in the situation where the glove itself (over 15+ seconds of welding) ended up so hot that I had to stop what I was doing take the glove off and set it aside for minutes while it cooled down. If I had been doing that without a glove I'd most likely have a more than crippled hand, and I don't think a welding glove counts as more than DR 2. If we go with alchemist fire being twice as hot as wood fire, then it is still radically lower then the temperatures that a welding glove with its mere DR 2 deal with constantly. Next: Being IMMERSED in fire counts as large area injury- see basic set pg 400; but its the average of the best and worst DR. |

Leather is just a really good material for fire/heat protection and not at all prone to catching fire. |

I hate to stir the pot even more, but what about heat?
The ht roll, is it penalized? Or unpenalized? |

Re: Fire and lowtech questions.
We were talking about less than ten seconds on a patch of earth that has alchemical fire burning on it- I don't think heat would have become an issue outside of 'damage from flame'.

Well, stunned, and then unconscious, 3 x Dr seconds. With a broken leg. He's 1 second from long enough till it starts. so yea, its about to be an issue.
