Where did the Divine Favor Cure Disease Table come from
In Divine Favor, there's a table that gives suggests FP cost for curing certain diseases. I seem to recall seeing this table before (as modifiers to Healing skill, not FP cost), but I can't remember where. I looked through my old 3E compendiums and Psionics, but it didn't seem to be there at first glace. Can anyone point me to where the original table was from?
(Essentially, I'm looking for the suggested modifiers for the lesser diseases such as the flu and malaria, as Divine Favor already gives you the lesser diseases for free and the table is modified accordingly). |

I don't recall such a table... But maybe in Bio-Tech for 4th Edition?

Re: Where did the Divine Favor Cure Disease Table come from
There are disease write-ups in Biotech, including the flu.
However only a small section on the Healing advantage and that is really just a pointer to Basic. I am unaware of anywhere such a table exists and I also checked Psionic Powers. Everywhere just says the IQ penalty is the GMs call and the FP cost is double the IQ penalty. I would say the IQ penalty is double the HT penalty as a rule of thumb. But have nothing to back that up :) |

Re: Where did the Divine Favor Cure Disease Table come from
I think it was from 3rd Edition.
Anyway, if I remember correctly, I had a handy table in my notes for 3E Healing power... but I believe I got rid of it right about when I switched to 4E. Now I can't remember if I took that table from somewhere, or if it was a house rule. Oh well... |

Re: Where did the Divine Favor Cure Disease Table come from
I invented the table ex nihilo for GURPS Powers: Divine Favor. It came from me sitting down with a few experts (RNs, etc.) to figure out which diseases should logically fall where on this progression.

Re: Where did the Divine Favor Cure Disease Table come from
Is the progression based entirely on the difficulty of treating the disease (presumably with TL7-8 medicine) or are other factors (vectors, lethality, etc) considered?

This is why leprosy (which we can cure at TL8) is listed as a harder disease to eliminate than herpes (which we cannot). Because it's not a question of "when is the cure invented" but of "how tenaciously does this resist the body's attempts to heal itself."

Re: Where did the Divine Favor Cure Disease Table come from
Well, that answers that... must have been a table I created long ago as a house rule.
Thanks for the response and clarification! |
