It is said that parallel lines meet in infinity. But where do parallel worlds meet?

There is a place between the worlds. You generally get there through a door. Perhaps you find yourself lost in an unfamiliar city, or you lose your bearings and take a wrong turn. You see a door where you didn't think there was one before. You take a chance and enter.

I'm getting ready to start up a new Horatio Club storyline and opening it up for new players. The campaign is based off the Horatio Club setting from GURPS Time Travel/Infinte Worlds; a kind of Gentleman's Club for trans-dimensional explorers.

Previously in the game, we had...

* A return to Skull Island, the home of King Kong, to race Nazis to a Lemurian treasure.
* A trip to the Moon of Phobos to recover a stolen book, leading to a confrontation with an evil mastermind and a plastic menace.
* A layover in the Bazaar at Deeva
* A visit to Dead London under the dominion of the Martians, who have allied themselves with a certain Napoleon of Crime

I'm open to pretty much any type of character, from any type of universe. Some of the ones we've had in the past include:

* A zen super-hero
* A hermaphordite lizard-boy
* A hippie chick with plant-control powers
* A Jonny Quest-type boy adventurer
* A nightclub singer/bouncer from 1930s Hong Kong
* The physical avatars of an astrological constellation

As you can see, we've had power levels bouncing all over the place.

Anyone who is interested, please send me a PM with a short description of your character idea.

UPDATE: I think I have my empty slots filled now. Thanks, everybody who responded!

So I am thinking about running some kind of Dungeon Fantasy Adventure here… I have two basic ideas. So here are my thoughts…

The first idea is a more traditional DFA story tentatively called Raiders of the Damned and is based somewhat are the Mirror of the Fire Demons (mostly some of the monsters and ideas, not the overall adventure though), and the Warhammer Fantasy adventure Mousillon, City of the Damned and the war game Mordheim. My idea is basically that the once capital city of the nation the heroes are in was destroyed some 500 years ago by a comet that corrupted the forest and lands around it. Those that survived (both people and animals) either fled the region or were twisted and driven insane by the corrupting forces of this comet. But there are still lots of lost wealth within the broken walls of this once great city. The heroes start in a small border/boom town on the edge of the dark forest that now surrounds the evil city, filled with all kinds of freakish monsters and creatures. The city itself is not uninhabited but now only the insane and the very evil reside here, preying on each other and hapless souls who foolish venture into the city seeking fame and future. Various groups in the boom town sponsored adventures to trek into the city to recovery various lost items of wealth, prestige or power. Our heroes are one such group… and of course looking for a sponsor.

The other idea is much more ambitious and I am not 100% I want to try it BUT it has been bouncing around in my head for at least a year. I call it Rifts – Vampire Wars and it is loosely based on the Rifts idea of a great catastrophe that destroyed the old world (a place called Ærth) leaving a raved planet behind… but in my version this happened in 1880. My set up story is REALLY long so I will spare you it unless people are interested in what I am going for. Basically though I want to use DFA as the bases but add in firearms and clockwork stuff (TL5 + ^). NOTE I might just drop the guns and say that sure it was 1880 but firearms where never invented in this world. Everything else is still around TL TL5 + ^, so there is still lots of wackiness… mostly because I might now want to worry about guns in the game. I am sort of iffy on either side so might just see what other people think. Cybernetics will exists but in the form of Bone Etching (magical brands places onto the users skeleton structure), Golem Grafts (full conversion are referred to as Cog-Men, but include golem like parts granted onto humanoid bodies), and Magical Glands (living magical organisms that boost the recipients’ abilities). Alchemy allows for boosting of people also with some folk having implanted potion like reserves in their bodies or even their brains. And of course there is magic (not sure about psychics though.. got enough crazy stuff already I think).

The game is set some 300 or more years after the Apocalypse, and 102 years after the formation of the Coalition States (a group of five city states that are fanatical anti-magic, human supremacist). It will start in the Pecos Empire, just south of the Coalition, in the dual city of El Paso/Ciudad Juarez on the Rio Grande River. The Pecos Empires are a loose confederation of petty bandit-kingdoms, where most of the intelligent races exist and are accepted as normal (sort of). They have very loosely banded together for mutual protection from the Coalition who are generally disliked if not despised by most of the residents (except those anti-magic, human supremacist that are found here). The Coalition state of the New Alchemist Republic (the northern panhandle of old Alchemist Republic of Texas) is just over the border from these badlands and they occasionally conduct raids into the Pecos (mostly as a counter to the raids by the Pecos bandits that raid into the Republic). The characters are a miss-mass of mercenaries, sellswords and never-do-wells that have been hired by a local oil merchant. He wants the group to escort a supply wagon train to one of his oil rigging station far out into the eastern badlands called the Arcane Zone. While the route and the oil rig itself are north of the Rio Grande, thus cutting it off from the Vampire Wastes to the south (the old Mexican empire which is overrun by vampires), bandits, violent humanoids and undead still infest the area. The route will wind through the Juarez Mountains and the Rio Grande Rift valley, and should take just over a week. Once there they might be assigned to extra work (with extra gold of course) as the station manager see fit. They of course will be assigned to make a return trip with a crude oil shipment bond for the refineries of El Paso. Now why call it the Vampire Wars? Well that will come into play later…

That is what I got for right now. I don’t want to create a threat unless there is some interest.

OK well I am just going to post a recruitment one below. I am going with the first idea only because it will be a bit easier to manage I think :)

Look for it in a bit here. Also done with the basics and character creation stuff...

Pending two of my players posting in the near future, World of Fire is currently open for up to two new players.

NOTE: Roster is currently closed, but I'll note if more people are needed.

A wild idea appeared.

I was just looking at this wonderful link here, with DF templates reduced to a pretty low level.

So basically, what I had in mind was to give it a shot with PbP GM-ing once again and create and adventure with a couple of 100-point based characters using the very templates provided in the link above (kudos to Mr. Eric B. Smith, who wrote the whole thing).

I'll be looking for 3-5 people, eventually six if this wakes up a lot of interest.

The main story in a nutshell - all the characters would be either squires, apprentices or some kind of students of some already famous hero, trying to give it a shot with adventuring themselves.

PM me if you're interested, and I'll make an OCC thread as soon as I get at least 3 mails.

EDIT: Now that was fast. 3 PMs in cca 30 minutes. I'll write up the first post in OOC. I have the basic idea in mind, in the time I write up the full story, I guess everyone should have their characters done. Also, I guess I'll be using DF15 instead of the link I provided. See you in OOC!

EDIT2: The OOC thread is up and is recruiting!

EDIT3; Got 5 people REALLY fast here. I'd say the roster is closed, but if needed, I'll note here should it be necessary.

Odysseys

Recruitment open!.

A spot has opened up in the campaign.

About the campaign. The party are all accomplished citizens who are summoned by the finest mage of your race (Boirer). He tells you about some brewing trouble in the near future in a letter. The meeting with the mage will be the start of the campaign.

The world we’re playing in is a high fantasy one. It’s TL 4 without widespread guns and technology is shunned. There are many races who all interact with each other. Magic works with a modified ritual/threshold system.

The campaign will be mostly social/mystery with a little bit of combat every now and then. The goal is to make your character “live” in the world so there is a big focus on character development and roleplaying. So I recommend an extensive background story, which of course will be rewarded. Please think of a reason why your character accept the proposal and it is fun if you come up with a goal that your character strives for.

The characters. Characters are built on 250/-50/-5 + a reward for a background story. There are no powers and it’s mostly realistic stuff. You are chosen for some sort of skill you possess. Currently we have a Face-man, Arcane Researcher and an Arms Teacher/Scout. Other examples of characters are: Judge, Messenger from the gods, Soldier or Battle mage, Artist, Opera/Theatre player or even a Merchant. These are just suggestions If you’ve got another fun idea just ask if it’s an appropriate one(Most are okay, but no one ask a big criminal to defend his country).

So if you are interested just let me know and I’ll answer any question you might still have (There is more information in the Ooc http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread...54#post1421354). I’m looking forward to your reply.
