You can, however, add the appropriate aspect and force the Monster to leave.
My question is about "no time to remove".
When I read the official FAQ it seems to me that all those situations when monsters won't fight fit the definition of Defeating a monster:
""defeating" a monster involves beating it in combat or removing it from play in such a way that you do not have to Run Away."
Indeed, when it won't fight it implies "removing it from play in such a way that you do not have to Run Away".
But if it is defeating, then the "reasonable time rule" applies to it. So, there should be "time to remove", shouldn't it?

You're applying the "reasonable time" rule incorrectly -- it's meant for other players to have a chance to affect a combat. When the Lawyers see a Thief, they leave immediately, period.

Let's say, I had started a combat vs the Lawyers as a Warrior and then changed to a Thief. Does it count as a "defeat" of the monster? (note, that I managed to remove a monster, that had been attacking me)

It's irrelevant - the monster LEFT and you get no rewards for it.

My understanding is if it is DEFEAT then other players should have reasonable time (to play a wondering monster or smth) after I forced the monster to leave (by changing class to a theif)

You missed a rule change. If all monsters are taken out of a fight, the combat ends immediately.

Indeed, I missed that change! Maybe you need to update the official FAQ accordingly to that change. I mean this part:
Q. Does the "reasonable time rule" apply to defeating a monster without killing it, or just to killing it?
A. Any sort of defeat....

I understand that the updated edition should be:
A. Only to killing it.

The FAQ is in need of updates for several reasons. My plate is a bit clearer now than it has been for several months, so I'll make sure to tackle this before the end of the month.
