I assume you're already familiar with the Tuscon Artefacts.

Reminds me of an idea I had to track down and collect all the fingers of Saint John in Crusader Kings II. Gave up when I realized there were at least two dozen in circulation.

No I was not. I'm kind of making the game up as I go on. Arizona is the setting because one player said he had just watched Eight Legged Freaks so he hoped we weren't in Arizona.

Lost Dutchman mine
Rumors of petroglyphs of dinosaurs or spacemen
Stories about lost mines/ancient civilization runes near the Grand Canyon
I've got some notes around somewhere for a 1920s pulp game that was going to Arizona if you want me to dig them up.

I'm seeing some stories about a bunny that snuck into the courtyard in the center of the Pentagon -- Bunnies and Burrows meets Jason Bourne?

A similar grim spectacle: the Wanli Emperor (Ming Dynasty) is the only emperor whose tomb in the Beijing Ming Tombs compound was ever excavated. The process was undertaken with inadequate scientific supervision, and the Cultural Revolution put an end to it. During the demonstrations, Red Guards dragged the Wanli Emperor's corpse to the front of the tombs, along with two of his wives, and subjected them to denunciation, then burned them and scattered their remains.

In the old tradition of Chinese ancestral propitiation, an angry spirit wandering the earth is blamed as the spiritual cause of all manner of ills. And a former emperor may give rise to a potent wrathful shade indeed...
