Default The 20mm LAG, today

(When I saw this on Forgotten Weapons this morning, the connection seemed pretty obvious)

The Inkunzi PAW is a semi-automatic rifle that has a lot of similarities to the TL8 LAG. Length is 850mm, unloaded weight 6 kg, and fires from a 6 round drum. The most important difference is muzzle velocity, at 310 m/s. Ammo includes HEI, SAPHE, AP, and training. The AP is not very effective (6mm penetration), but the design of the training round actually has it function as a hollow point round (if someone tried it).

A detailed video on the gun at Forgotten Weapons:

It’s effectively a 20mm semi auto shotgun with specialty ammunition.

In game terms a 18.5mm round would have the same characteristics and stats for HEAT, HE, etc are given in High Tech.

The LAG was a high velocity system... and probably inefficient in real life. It has the same problems as much “hi tech” equipment from early Traveller.

For a real world version of the Traveller LAG look to the anti-tank rifles of WWII vintage and modern anti-material 0.5 caliber 'sniper' rifles.

You need to drop weight by 75% and length by 25%.

...and you need to include HE, HEAT, APDS and beehive rounds.

The problem is, there’s nothing a LAG can do that a grenade launcher can’t do better.

I assume you mean a dedicated 4cm RAM launcher. LAG ammo is cheaper ;)

No, a 2 cm grenade launcher.... since the LAG itself is 2cm.

Essentially all you need is a semi auto 10 gauge shotgun.

Than 4cm grenades, maybe but 2cm grenades are likely more comparable...

...and the LAG itself is heavier and more expensive.

...and the grenades don’t HAVE to be rocket-assisted munitions.

Granted, I was thinking of the CT version of the LAG, not the GT version. It is pretty close to the CT version, not quite so much the GT version. My apologies.

Is the LAG an airburst weapon?
