Point cost for Armor Divisor on Melee Weapons
What would the point cost be for a melee weapon with an armor divisor?
If I give my black knight a thrusting broadsword with armor divisor of 5, how would I write that up? |

Re: Point cost for Armor Divisor on Melee Weapons
It can be done with the Penetrating Strike imbuement (PU1:9). That requires a 40-point advantage and a VH skill. Note that if the Black Knight only has that one Imbuement he could take an -80% limitation on the advantage -- so it might not be totally out of the question even in a "low" point game.
You could probably work something out using an ST-Based Innate Attack that requires the sword as a focus. Then again, the old fashioned way would just be to put the Penetrating Weapon enchantment on it. It would cost a pile of money (and someone else could steal the weapon and use it) but it is doable. Re: Point cost for Armor Divisor on Melee Weapons
I come up with:
Innate attack, Cutting 1d: 7pts Can be stolen -30% Breakable -10% Melee: Reach 1 -25% ST Based +100% Armor Divisor 5 +150% That's sw+1d+1 (5) cutting... for just the $ cost of the sword + 9 character points! Does that sound right to you? Maybe I need a house rule for this. |

But if he's paying money for it then he's (generally) not paying points for it. The enchantment rules set costs for swords that have armor divisors, it's quite a lot of cash. |

Re: Point cost for Armor Divisor on Melee Weapons
You might want to put an alternative impaling mode onto it. If my calculations are correct that would add another 5-points (8*1.85 + ROUNDUP(9/5)). The downside is that, if I'm reading B61 correctly, you can't switch modes even with multiple attacks -- only swing or only thrust in a given turn. Not a huge problem, but worth noting.

Ooops! excuse the funny math...
20pts is certainly more like it. Thank you all very much. Does anyone have a house rule they would recommend for situations like these? |
