Default Weapon and Armor Buff Spells

Has anyone ever made spells that buff weapons and or armor? If so, what would be a good IQ and St cost?
I'm looking for temp buff spells, not long lasting one.

No. But, Stone, Iron, and Diamond Flesh stack with armor, and so achieve a similar end as armor buffs.

The Aid spell could be your guide for buffing weapons. I'd consider maxing out damage effects at 2, the limit for fine weapons (maybe allowing a +1 to an already +2 fine weapon). I might also consider the temporarily magical weapon to affect creatures susceptible to magical weapons.

The existing flesh spells are too high a level to be much help, though I suppose a bark flesh could be made at IQ12 or so. Would you have the buff be 1 for 1 on fat vs bonus? What IQ level would you put the spell?

Leather Flesh at IQ 11 and stopping 2 hits preserves the IQ progression for the Flesh spells. Cost 1/1. But maybe that is still too strong? You could have an IQ 9 Cloth Flesh at 1 with a flat duration 3 or 4 turns.

You can cast Aid on a fighter to increase their ST or DX.

But not on yourself.

I'm looking for spells to model gish style self-buffs for warrior-wizards/paladin types.

Ok. I'd suggest having the appropriate group have researched spells that match what you want (e.g. spells that increase ST or DX a limited amount but for more than 2 turns?).

(BTW you can Aid your own ST or DX, but it really just gives you one usable turn of high ST or DX... but that's good for balance purposes as even that can be very useful in some cases.)

Yeah, I just read that today...my bad!

Still, buffing your strength is useless unless you are already in HTH combat.

But I suppose 1 for 1 to +1 damage? Would that be reasonable?

Unlike other games, I think the best way to achieve this in TFT would be to create 'buff' spells that boost the effects of higher ST and DX rather than the stats themselves. So temporary bonuses to damage, speed, etc.

Or why not create a spell that replicates the effects of 'berserking' for 2 or 3 turns w/o the downside?

Generally not, but there are a few uses. It doesn't help you cast more spells or take more damage, but it does help you make ST rolls to do mighty things (e.g. smash down a door, make a jump, win a contest of ST) or make ST saving rolls, or do damage with bare hands, clubs, or to use larger weapons better than you usually can.

I'm not sure what you mean by "1 for 1 to +1 damage"?

I'm thinking something like this:

Mighty Blows (IQ 9 spell) (S)
The caster's weapon or unarmed attacks do +1 damage for the next three turns. Can be cast while holding weapons. (GM might (?) also waive iron penalties.) Costs 1 ST.

Guided Blows (IQ 9 spell) (S)
The caster's weapon or unarmed attacks get +1 DX for the next three turns. Can be cast while holding weapons. (GM might (?) also waive iron penalties.) Costs 1 ST.

Maybe level 2 versions at IQ 11 that allow spending 3 ST for +2 effect.
