Broken Magical Blade Question
Hi Folks.
In my current TL3 Fantasy (not DF) campaign where I'm the GM, my adventurers have many magical artifacts (too many in fact). I use all the rules of Magic, Basic, Low-tech and especially the pyramid article like the Broken Blade or optionnal rules for LT armors from Low-Tech II. My question is this: how to use in combat but also outside combat by alchemical, magical and mundane means, damage and destroy weapons, armors and magic items (jewels, power stone...). In combat weapons and armor can be damaged and broken, but are there alchemist and magical means (example for a low IQ warrior) to use to remove his magic to an object? Ideas ? I thinking about alchemist grenade of Moly, or a combat version of Remove Enchantment (Magic p.58)... Thanks for help ^^ |

Re: Broken Magical Blade Question
I don't know of anything that can "de-magic" a magical item extremely quickly other than using something that can break or destroy it. And generally speaking that should be hard to do (if I commission a Staff of Lightning, I'll have some protection like Essential Wood cast on it).
I suppose you could create something that can permanently take away magic very quickly, but I'd keep in mind it could completely change the value of magic items. Why spend $33,000+ to enchant (or buy) that sword with Accuracy +2 if someone can easily take that away with a single dice roll?

Re: Broken Magical Blade Question
If you really wanted to, you could make some sort of potion that creates a (temporary) No Mana Zone. This would suspend the effects of all enchantments, without permanently screwing people over just because.

Re: Broken Magical Blade Question
At one point in D&D casting Dispel Magic on a permanent magic item would make it non functional for a while without actually destroying the enchantment.
There’s a concept, mentioned in the Marvel movies, that the more powerful you are the more powerful the foes that rise to challenge you. Last edited by tanksoldier; 02-26-2018 at 08:55 PM. |
