"I'm not sure, it looks like some kind of evacuation. Maybe you can check the radio?" I point to the dashboard.

"Do you know where Victor is?"

She pulls up a radio from the back. She messing with the dials.

"Last I saw he was in the garage. That was about 4am though, when I came out here."

Greg takes a peek at his watch, it reads 8am.

There is nothing on the radio just static.

I head outside and look around. I intend to head over to the stores to look for Victor (who, I'm guessing, is probably in the bathroom).

Maybe he didn't take his meds and went stir crazy in the garage...

There is quite a bit of commotion. You see several vehicles fly by on the road. some tanks with soldiers on there calling out to each other.

Then you notice. the gate. There is slack on the chain and the gate has been pulled as far as it could be. It is open just far enough so a kid could get out. You distinctly remember pulling the gate shut.

A humvee rolls up to the gate. It has a large .50 caliber machine gun on top. 4 marines get out. They walk up to gate.

"HEY! You need to get out here. There is whole world of hurt coming this direction. You are not safe here." A marine yells out. "We are going to Fairchild Air Force Base. I would suggest you get what ever you need, get in your vehicles, gas up, and follow us."

I start unlocking the gate.

"What do you mean, 'world of hurt'?"

"Something weird man. There is no point in keeping it all hush hush. Something happened off the coast. A plane from LA going to Russia crashed off the coast up near Seattle and the bay. In the rescue only 1 guy survived. He was then flown to the Seattle General Hospital and that is when all hell broke loose. That was yesterday morning. Some how what ever this got over the mountains and landed here. It is some kind of virus or something. So far all we can tell is it pass through the saliva. It has to touch your blood, mouth or eyes. When you get it, you start having Ebola like symptoms and you just crash and bleed out. Then bodies get back. It is the craziest **** I ever seen." The Marine answered. There is a tinge of genuine terror to his voice. You do not even need any kind of special training to know this man is telling you everything he knows. He is also not lying.

He looks over in the direction he said the trouble was. "Those things, the bodies, they are coming. Right now we can out run them. They do not move very fast, but some do. They came after. It is like what ever this is, evolved fast to survive. but they stay behind the slow ones. It is like it is intelligent. They allow the weak ones to go in first soak the damage and they rush in and do the killing." The Marine signals to his men to get on. "Here we are an engineering team we can get the gas out of this pump with out it being on. You really should come. It is not safe here. These things just keep coming."

Your Son comes out of the store, with some food. He must have gotten hungry and grabbed something to eat. He was smart enough to find appropriate food for his condition.

If they are fast, intelligent, and bloodthirsty we will not be able to survive on our own like I had planned.

I smile at Victor, then turn back to the marine.

"Okay, I'll get my family loaded up and we'll come with you. We have a truck in the garage.

Plan of action:

• Get the gate open for the engineering team.
• Make sure my kids are ready to go and keep them close to me.
• Double check the snowplow has a full gas tank and is otherwise ready to go and open the garage.
• Let Trent know the plan if he doesn't know.
• As long as the engineers are working keep loading supplies into the snowplow. (Get help with this from Trent or any of the marines who are idle.)
• When the marines are ready to go go with them in the snowplow.

Trent was standing around looking dumbfounded. He hears the Marines describe the situation. He looks around and then back at the Marines,"You guys are running scared and and can't handle the situation and you expect us to follow you. Dude you guys are wacked....My friend had a Bunker around here some place...we just need to find that and wait this S$%t out." He turns and heads to his SUV to get some power bars and some gatorade.
