Also, some of the people reading this may not know anything about the topic, or know 'just enough to be dangerous,' so to speak. Due to Hollywood, there are a lot of people out there who probably don't know that there are practical reasons not to use torture, or don't realize that the alternatives are more effective. I don't recall what specifically prompted me to write this, so it may have been something in an unrelated thread that I read while tired (possibly someone on Spacebattles.com or somewhere like that who doesn't know that the fallacies about torture are indeed false), or it may have been something in the back of my mind for a long time, due to the aforementioned various people in-setting who are fine with doing horrible things to other people (especially people that they designate as 'Other').

Okay. It's comforting to know you're not responding to any particular line of "reasoning" that may have cropped up anywhere near this thread, recently. :)

Re: Five Earths, All in a Row
Very interesting setting that I've enjoyed reading about on the GURPS wiki site!
One thing I'd like to be clearer on is the degree to which the worlds are aware of each other and how easy travel between the worlds is. References to lawyers tearing their hair out over the differences suggests that awareness is high and travel easy. Is there interdimensional trade? Are the differences in science and tech levels between the worlds being erased by contact?

Dieselpunk and Infopunk have the most contract with each other thanks to Dieselpunk's WWII. Steampunk Earth has had a few efforts in gathering information but how much they know is unclear. Clockpunk Earth is not a major player. Fantasy Earth has communication portals to the other Earths and serves as a kind of defacto information hub. The timeline (which I just cleaned up to make it a little easier to move around) and Vignettes (flavor text) is most of the information we have outside of what it being kicked around on spacebattles' forum.

Re: Five Earths, All in a Row
Sorry that this isn't an update.
The Wiki now has an article for Enchantment Through Age and Deeds that mentions Five Earths, and being told that elsewhere inspired a post that I believe would be useful here: I'm not going to say what specific powers the Declaration of Independence (for example) has, but it is fairly powerful for its age. Think less 'specific spells' like a typical RPG magic item, and more 'general concepts' like something out of Tolkien. That's true for a lot of things that are significantly Enchanted Through Age and/or Deeds in the Five Earths setting. Items as Characters can also fit, to different degrees. One thing that both the Magna Carta and Declaration of Independence are known for doing on Earth-2 is inspiring people to resist tyranny (whether on a personal level or something larger), and sometimes granting a small magical bonus to Will or even skills to help with that (e.g. helping an abused spouse to bring themself to escape from the abuser, after visiting the item, or encouraging a reporter to speak out against Boss Tweed when they already want to but are afraid). They literally cannot make you do things that you don't already want to, but they can inspire the courage to do things that you already want to do or know you need to do. How much of that is magic and how much is just regular emotional inspiration is a matter of some debate, but at least on Earth-2, it is not disputed that there is some magic involved, there. It's pretty strongly suspected that the same is indeed becoming true on Earth-1, or that it already has, as it's believed to have on Earth-3.

Re: Five Earths, All in a Row
This is incomplete, pretty clearly, and I've been stuck at roughly this point for much of this year, and almost at this point for a significant part of 2019. It's not the only thing holding up the September, 2014 timeline entry, but it's been an excuse for not working on it. So, I'm posting it here and asking for help, please.
Third Operation Pencil Sharpener expedition, Work in Progress (This will be more detailed, or at least list more spacecraft, later on; it's how I'm organizing my thoughts on the expedition, which will probably have more than a hundred spacecraft, not counting the fighters.) American Heavy Combatants: Space Shuttle (Atlantis?), SL-747 Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: White MSFB (nicknamed 'White Base'), (other MSFBs?), Boeing Dreamlifter (modified for combat launch of fighters, but non-combat retrieval) & 747, Lockheed C-5 Galaxy Later in the battle, Grissom MSFB delivered by Clan Ssrax escorts Transport Vehicles: SC-5, Boeing 747 Bombers: 1 constellation SB-52, 1 constellation SB-1, 1 flight SB-2 Fighters: Starfury, Starfighter, Millennium Falcon, Space Eagle Civilian Space Vessels: Boeing 747, 767, 777, 787 Russian Heavy Combatants: An-225 (modified for combat), Beriev A-60, Be-200 Altair, Ilyushin Il-76 Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: An-225 (modified for combat launch of fighters, but non-combat retrieval) Transport and Other Large Vehicles: An-124, An-225; Beriev A-50, Beriev Be-200 Altair Bombers: Tu-22, Tu-160 Fighters: 2 squadrons Soyuz-Kazakov (Starfighter-upgraded Soyuz ACTS w/ armed Orbital Module); Su-27 Civilian Space Vessels: Beriev Be-200 Altair PLACEHOLDER European Heavy Combatants: Nimrod Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: Airbus Starwhale (modified for combat launch of fighters, but non-combat retrieval) Transport Vehicles: PLACEHOLDER Bombers: PLACEHOLDER Fighters: Eurofighter Astrotyphoon and Panavia Star Tornado Civilian Space Vessels: Airbus Commonwealth Heavy Combatants: Nimrod Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: Airbus ?; SC-58 'RAF Wellesley' Transport Vehicles: Airbus CC-150 Polaris <others> Bombers: <V-bomber> Fighters: BAE Space Harrier, Eurofighter Astrotyphoon, Panavia Star Tornado, CF-18 Space Hornet, Starfighter, Starfury Civilian Space Vessels: Airbus Japanese Heavy Combatants: Kawasaki SC-2 Later in the battle, Yamato and Wakamiya delivered by Clan Ssrax escorts Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: Kawasaki SC-1 Transport Vehicles: Kawasaki SC-1 Bombers: Kawasaki SP-1, Lockheed SP-3 Orion Fighters: Mitsubishi SF-2, SF-15 Space Eagle, SF-4 Phantom Nova; Gundams of the 'JGSDF 08th Mobile Suit Team' (technically the first MS team, all others existing only on paper; carried by White MSFB) Civilian Space Vessels: Boeing Ice Warrior Clan Ssrax Heavy Combatants: <something> Later in the battle, more Clan Ssrax escorts arrive Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: PLACEHOLDER Transport Vehicles: PLACEHOLDER Bombers: (possibly no bombers) Fighters: (possibly no fighters) Other Heavy Combatants: 767 Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: Brazil Israel Mexico Transport Vehicles: Brazil Israel Mexico (probably more nations than the three already listed; Viet Nam may be included, not sure about the rest) Bombers: Lockheed SP-3 Orion Fighters: Brazil Israel Mexico Civilian Space Vessels: (probably more nations than the three already listed; Viet Nam may be included, not sure about the rest) Task Force Inevitable Truth, Work in Progress (As with the above, this is how I'm organizing my thought on this group for the Battle of Point Carruthers. Total number of spacecraft larger than fighters is currently sixty-two and will probably remain less than a hundred, but a lot of them are more advanced than the Earth One side. Not sure I want them to have that many heavy combatants.) If you have ideas for the NATO reporting names, suggestions are welcome, please. Heavy Combatants: 12 Cytherean raiders 5 Korsshethh <B-something> or <M-something> (NATO reporting name; might use MARAUDER for this, too) Carrier & Tender Spacecraft: 3 Korsshethh MARAUDERs (NATO reporting name) Transport Vehicles: (possibly none) Bombers: 15 Nazi flying saucers 12 Soviet flying saucers 7 Dsp-Hungarian flying saucers 4 Dsp-Chinese flying saucers 2 Dsp-Bulgarian flying saucers 1 Dsp-Romanian flying saucer (paired w/Hungarian saucer) 1 Vichy French flying saucer (paired w/Nazi saucer) Fighters: 35 Korsshethh <F-something> (NATO reporting name) Thoughts?

Re: Five Earths, All in a Row
The GURPSwiki has Vehicles: Steampunk Conveyances which compares and combines information from Classic and 4e regarding vehicles.
