Why? I doubt any of my proposals will see a final decision, let alone a contract, until some time after the giant cybertank leaves the hangar, which I don't see happening until at least April. And given the usual vagaries of writing, editing, and production, I don't see a typical book going through the whole process in nine months. Even Fantasy-Tech 1, which was conceived of as a quick fill-in, took about a year from initial proposal to publication.
Bummer. You are one of my favoritest GURPS authors, up there with Dr. Kromm Himself, so I always hope for more goodies from your direction.

This makes me wonder... I OGRE crushing GURPS? Is it dying a slow death? Does anyone think we'll see much of anything in new releases (other than Pyramid) for the upcoming year? There are some nice things in the pipeline, so maybe there's hope that they'll come out soon. I remember last year where we had barely any new material for the first couple of months, but then some stuff was released in the spring and summer.

My gaming money (and time) gets redirected later in the year to other hobbies, so I hope this doesn't repeat.

Well, there's likely to be the odd Pyramid article, though I haven't had good ideas for most of the upcoming themes.

I expect to see Car Wars' Uncle Albert's Catalog from Hell on e-23 in 2013 ... followed shortly thereafter by hell itself freezing over. ;)

I count eleven GURPS titles at the production or pre-press stages. That, ignoring Pyramid, is about enough to keep the GURPS wing busy for an entire year at nearly one a month.

I don't think things'll hardly release at one a month for the next little bit and some of those have been stuck there for two years, but I suspect we'll get either one of the Thaumatologies or GURPS Zombies in the first quarter. The further through the production process Ogre gets, the more involved in physical things the production process gets - which doesn't have much impact on E23 PDFs. If OGRE takes the "usual" 3 months from "sent to the printers" to "in stores" (which sounds a little fast, considering how fancy it is), that's a 3 month period where OGRE isn't in house at all and folks not intimately involved with OGRE sales/marketing suddenly aren't needed on the project.

It might be all-hands-on-deck when it comes back from the printers, so that could get exciting again :)

Hope so! I'd like to see a new release/month this year. Lots of things I'm interested in. If not, I'll be prepping for hunting season by early summer, which will take the wind out of my (relatively inexpensive) gaming purchases.

Considering how many times I've heard someone say GURPS is dying, I end up responding to all of the reports with "GURPS is dying, film at 11."

And even if there aren't any GURPS releases at all in 2013 - which is unlikely unless Pyramid changes its focus right now - it won't kill the game, any more than the lack of new material for In Nomine since 2009 has killed that game.

Refresh my memory. What was the latest GURPS hardcover and when was it released?

Guys, please don't get the speculation thread shut down. It's kind of a cool tradition I'd like to keep alive.

Ditto; I've got a few things at proposal stage, but nothing more advanced. It seems to me quite likely that the things we'll see for GURPS in 2013 are:
  • Pyramid - already mentioned, but worth mentioning again.
  • Already listed on my GURPS rumours page - speculating wildly, I'd put at least small amounts of money on seeing Zombies (at least in PDF form), Underground Adventures, Chinese Elemental Powers, St George's Cathedral and Wings of the Rising Sun before the end of the year.
  • Side projects by Kromm or PK, which can be whisked through the early stages (writing, editing) fairly quickly. (But which aren't on the list above because they don't usually talk about them much in advance.)
