Default innate attack and attributes

i read somewhere in this forum that you can use any appropriate skill for your innate attack.
in gurps powers p.100 said that you can use the "based on" modifier to change the attribute you using for ability.
is there a modifier that allows me to use IQ instead of the innate attack skill for absolutely mental attack?

p.s english is not may native language so sorry if there are mistakes.

Based on IQ (+20%).

i thought that you can use this modifier only to change the attribute, and not switch from skill to attribute.

You'd use an IQ-based appropriate skill. For example, you could make an IQ-based Innate Attack skill instead of DX.

Take based on IQ
Don't take a control skill

Control skills are there to provide a discounted way to improve ability with an innate attack - if your front have one you just use raw stat.

To base the attack off IQ rather than any Skill, I would call it a -5% on the Innate Attack.

My reasoning is that the Innate Attack Skill is an Easy Skill, for 1 point you can have that at Attribute level, so if your Innate Attack is stuck at Attribute level without anyway of increasing it (like say, if it used a Skill) outside of raising the entire Attribute, then that is less valuable than an Attack you can raise with a Skill.
It is also the reverse of the idea that you can take an Advantage that requires a Skill roll and replace that with a Hard or Average Skill, -5% for a Very hard Skill and +5% for an Easy Skill.

Or use an Attribute Substitution perk to make Innate Attack based on IQ.

This is the equivalent of the Psychic Guidance (spell) perk that turns Innate Attack (projectile) skill from DX based to IQ based for the selcted missile spell. and because the Innate Attack skill is any easy skill, it can be swapped out for any other skill that is thematically appropriate for how the Innate Attack is defined as.

Noted Generally Any Attribute control roll on an advantage can be switched to a Hard Skill as a +0% modifier.

If the Advantage already has a control roll, you use Based On modifier to change that Attribute. But to ad a roll you use the Requires Roll modifier.
