Default autoduel

I am interested in starting a post apocalyptic rpg based on car wars. I see that there is a gurps autoduel product. But I am unfamiliar with gurps, and am not sure what to buy. I am assuming the gurps basic set and autoduel. Does anyone have any suggestions on any other products?
thanks

You might find GURPS High Tech to be useful. It has all kinds of equipment that's not in the Basic Set. I don't recall whether there was a post-apocalypse book. GURPS Y2K has some of that content, though much of it is tailored to the world's computer systems crashing.

Want a random dungeon? How about some tables for that? How about a random encounter?

Gurps Autoduel (2nd ed) was for Gurps 3e. You are extremely unlikely to find Autoduel 1e but that was for Gurps 1e and has game stats that are incompatible with virtually any Gurps product since.

Gurps Autoduel was based off Car Wars though. 2nd ed built cars with Gurps Vehicles 2nd ed (Ve2) so you might want that book and the Gurps Vehicles Builder computer program (GVB). Many people find Ve2 complex and complain of it though I appreciate it's ultimate level of flexibility.

If you were to handle cars and other vehicles with Car Wars rules you could simply use Gurps 4e (and perhaps High Tech) to handle action out of vehicles. If you wanted to deal with back up clones and such in greater detail that would be in Ultra Tech.

If you're going with 3e you want to get the editions compatible with that. The pdfs are all pretty clearly labeled and the 3e books are probably marked as "Classic". High Tech 4e is not quite compatible with third ed though it is a really great gear catalogue with lots of survivalist stuff.

At the bottom of this page you'll find some road atlases. You might want to pick one of those up.
