[Ultra-Tech] Cyber modification price - Under the hood
How to calculate the cost of a new cyber modification? Is there some formula, explaining the link between the price of an implant and advantages and disadvantages of the augmentation?

No. The important thing about setting a cash price point is not "how many points it would take to simulate the modification as an advantage". It's "how does it compare to other technology on the market." One should not for example, sell pop-up fore-arm guns for less than than an equivalent pistol.

I believe the question is about character point cost, not cash price.

I know the topic starter and he explicitly wants to know cash price and its dependance on the character point cost of a would-be advantage.

Re: [Ultra-Tech] Cyber modification price - Under the hood
Fair enough. In that case, the Pyramid article "Metatronic Generators" gives a formula for converting between cash cost and point cost, in the context of Supers settings and using Gadgeteering, but it could be a starting point for looking at cyberware costs. But as David Johnston2 points out, market prices don't necessarily line up with point costs.
For a real world analogy, consider the prices of a brand new latest version iPhone, a gold-plated model of the same, a second hand unit in good condition, and a new unit of an older version. There would be minimal difference in the utility and point cost of each, but you'd get a 10x span or more in market prices between them. Oh, you could try looking for the Edgerunner's cyberpunk campaign webpage. Some regular poster from here (sorry, forgotten their name) has done a fair amount of work on making cyberware for GURPS. ETA: Here's the link: https://edgerunners.obsidianportal.c...are-statistics (and credit to Langy). Unfortunately, it doesn't give cash prices for enhancements, but realistically that would be different for each item anyway.
