Swashbuckler template question for Dungeon Fantasy
So my friend and I are making our characters for our GMless game of Dungeon Fantasy use colaberaitive rules and I have run into a snag neither of us can quite figure out.
I've made a Swashbuckler using the template in Adventurers. Two skills it lists are Fast Draw: Knife and Thrown Weapon: Knife. One of the optional flaws that I took is Vow: Use only weapon of choice, and I chose broadsword. I'm thinking the vow might make it so that I shouldn't use my knife and as such I should replace those two skills. Neither of us are sure though. Can someone give us any opinions? |

I'd say replace the skills, or take a different Vow.

This would actually be a problem whenever that Vow is taken but, this means there should probably be an official ruling on the matter.

You could always take housekeeping and take an entire second off prep time by drawing a kitchen knife that much faster from the chopping block.

Genius. And knife throwing might be a game or something you use to distract a foe, but not as a weapon.

You can take Weapon Master for some sort of knife; they're one-handed Sword-class weapons.

Modify the Vow to include the phrase "In Close Quarters", that way you can use the Sword in Melee and used the knives at range.

Thanks guys, I'm just going to take a different vow I think. I have over confident. Maybe "Never attack first" would fit with that.

That said I think this is caused by rules Vs. cinematic, even fictional characters who could be considered to have this flaw probably do use other weapons, so maybe change it to have an out for "when circumstances permit" so that if you lose your weapon or it has no range or whatever, you aren't in trouble. |

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one confused by this at least.
