Re: Intracranical Explosive Charge
Being king of the UK etc. has been involuntary and non-hazardous since about 1701.

Re: Intracranical Explosive Charge
God knows. Edward VIII got prior permission and was still disgraced, exiled, and dispossessed.

You might also turn to it if you were calculating point value for some kind of minion whose master would have the detonator, similar to how GURPS Zombies addresses exploitable infectiousness.)

Re: Intracranical Explosive Charge
It's hard to separate the abdication, the divorcée, and the American. Even the Yorks, who felt most betrayed by the abdication, seem to have disliked Mrs Simpson. I think she patronised them.
The flirtation with Hitler was kept pretty secret until the Seventies.

Nobody feels sure what the appropriate way is to treat an abdicated monarch, and etiquette was important to the upper classes of the time. Second, he wasn't happy about being pushed out, and had never been someone with a close attachment to practical realities. "Loose cannon" is a phrase that leaps to mind when reading about his behaviour before becoming King. So he couldn't really be trusted to be a figurehead for anything without causing problems. |

Re: Intracranical Explosive Charge
Sorry. It was only a quip; I wouldn't want it to cause a derailment.
