Yes, why do you ask?

Re: Flat Ogre question
Nope. I was one of the folks who wanted more conventional units instead of flat Ogres.

Re: Flat Ogre question
I actually bought two spare flat Ogre sheets (J1 if memory serves), they are nice, but don't get used much now with the minis available.

Re: Flat Ogre question
I prefer flat, single-hex ogres. Stacking ogres is a powerful tactic, even just a powerful threat, especially in a narrowly focused battle. Oversized 3D ogres make that tactic physically awkward at best, confuse the location of the ogres at worst.
The first try at flat ogres was a miss. Yes, they were flat. But they were bigger than a single hex, so they didn't solve all the problems with the 3D ogres. That said, for tan-map no stacking games the oversized 3D ogres and miniatures are much more inspiring, especially for new players. |

Re: Flat Ogre question
I use them for travel. They are more survivable than the 3D's or minis and look better than a scrap of paper with "MK III" written on it.
When traveling by air, i use a sort of "pocket edition" of modern components. Boards, docs, dice & counters all in ziplocs, cushioned by clothing. Everything has survived intact so far... |

Re: Flat Ogre question
Yes, flat counter ogres preferred. And ideally sized properly so they fit into one hex too - after all, the hex denotes 1.5km area, and I've yet to see or hear of any ogre exceeding those sizes. They are big, but not that big!
It's why I like and recommend the Nihon Empire countersheets: http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/sponsored-counters/ I think it was a master-stroke of designing brilliance to put an ogre onto a proper proportioned hex-sized counter. If you haven't already acquired some Nihon sheets, I strongly recommend you to do so. In time, I'll probably use the plastic miniature ogres. And I only ever use the 3d cardboard ogres for demoing the game to new players/members of the public.

Re: Flat Ogre question
Cool. I really did not know there are that many people that would use them.
Truth is, if I crack open OGRE, it will be for the visual appeal, so One Ogre per hex is good enough for me. That being said, I now have Two DE worth of flat ogres as well as from all the extra counter sheets minus Barbarians. Does anyone want them? I'll be glad to send them. Or I can just bring them to GenCon if you are going. Last edited by JimmyPlenty; 06-24-2018 at 11:49 PM. |
