Default Getting the Game back together

I'm not sure where to put this so I thought I'd place it here. It appears that after nearly a decade of non-gaming I'll be starting an rpg group here. I'll be the GM and I have lined up three players that are very interested to start playing. We are looking to start playing here soon after New Years, so I have a questions that I would like your input on. I have spent some time reading Robin's Laws of Good GMing and learned lots, a great purchase from e23. I have also written an introductory adventure that I am putting the finishing touches on.

So the question is, I have spent sometime developing a survey based on the knowing your players section of Robins Laws shoudl I give this out to my players right away and use its information to adjust my adventure and campaign ideas?

If in anyone is interested the survey is a word document, I'll be happy to share.

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

Dave.

I can't think of any cons to doing that, so my answer is "Sure, why wouldn't you?".

Don't do Word; UTF-8 or PDF only.

Definitely take some time to get to know the group and sculpt your campaign to them. Never done the Robin's Law thing, but it sounds as good as any other method. I usually just ask. And pay attention to the things the players respond to in the first few adventures.

There is also an online version of the quiz. I am not on my normal computer or I would provide the link. Maybe some one else has the link handy.

So, why not word? that way anyone could use it. It seems that would be most beneficial to everyone.

I was also unaware of an online rpg style test. The link would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all of the feedback, and more is always apreciated.

Dave.

Word can contain viruses; UTF-8 and PDF cannot. You're thinking, "I'm not going to put a virus in my document." But nobody does. They are injected when you're not looking. Your document can contain a virus without you knowing it.

As for the sharing, endorsing piracy on this board is grounds for moderator action, might even be a permanent ban. They might let you slide this once, but you may want to retract your stance on that, or even repost the thread entirely. At least the ban list has a few names on it listed as 'endorsing piracy' as the reason, so...

PS- Good find, though.

Am I completely in the wrong here, or is the thing being shared not something the OP made, a questionnaire for his/her players??
