Choosing Deflect for a Shield or Weapon

Using GCA,m how do you select the modifiers for selecting Deflect for a Shield or a Weapon?
I am trying to enchant a sword and a shield using the Defect enchantment. The only checkable options are for Armor but the spell specifically states it can be applied to armor, clothing, a shield, or a weapon.
Also my GM has stated that in his campaign that Deflect placed on a sword will only affect a Parry defense. Question is how to I adjust the weapons parry then?
